Sometimes I'm surprised at how much I'm impressed by Thin Lizzy [07 Aug 2009|12:42am]

Men of Science on tagoo.ru [24 Jan 2009|10:59pm]
I've been suddenly getting hits to my Men-of-Science page referred from "www.tagoo.ru/en". Apparently our mp3s are now direct linked in their search engine. So far "sailor mercury" is the most popular, followed by Star Trek IV. I suspect that whoever accessed these mp3s were actually looking for something else. I hope they were amused by what they found.

P.S. Now I'm glad that I spent all that time meta-tagging all of our Mp3s

So I guess there's this band called Genesis. [07 Dec 2008|12:09am]
[ music | Genesis: Wind & Wuthering ]

So at one time in my life, probably around high school, I decided I hate Genesis and Phil Collins sucks most of all and they don't rock hard like Zep or the Stones or Aerosmith. Then, when I was a Junior I got into pink floyd and later in college, Jethro Tull. A few years ago I got into Gentle Giant. eventually I had to admit to myself that Genesis really wasn't much different in sound than a lot of these art-rock groups that I like.

I listened to some of their albums on Rhapsody and I reluctantly admitted that I like this group. I'm not one those prog-heads that claim that the band was only good with Peter Gabriel either. I actually liked Invisible Touch more than that so-called masterpiece called Foxtrot.

Eventually I started to get obsessive and I ended-up ordering this 1976-1982 Box Set (must have all their albums!!!) It's pretty good, I have to say. It's not just remastered, but actually remixed from the original master tapes. I recommend this for anyone who is certain that they want all five of these albums and the bonus material that goes along with it, and can find it for much less than MSRP, like I did.

Just finished watching season 4 of new Doctor Who with Corey! It's both brilliant and silly at the same time.
I was worried that they'd keep getting worse but instead they only get better each year. Next year there is going to be a new head script writer taking over for RTD, and a new Doctor, and a new companion. We'll just have to wait and see how that works out, but I'm guessing I'll still love it and buy the DVDs and all that. Yay!

Fixed my watermarks [23 Nov 2008|03:16pm]
I had this "artwork" from alicemachine.org that I moved over to my new website. They were all covered with big ugly "alicemachine.org" watermarks so I replaced them with little ones that say "Kelly Gallagher 2003" or whatever, unless the image already has a signature.

I notice that most of them are dated 2003 or so, which means I haven't really done a finished picture in a while.

This band "Les Savy Fav" is pretty good. I don't know how to pronounce their name, but I like the music in this understated video.

Someday youtube will go under, and everyone will wonder what these mysterious objects are that were once imbedded in all my LJ posts. Or not.

I love Rhapsody, were I can hear all kinds of strange music that I would probably ignore otherwise.

Taekwondo Testing Update [24 Aug 2008|02:06pm]
I think it went good. I'm expecting to pass. I was pretty hyped when I was done, then I went to work and that kind-of messed everything up. If you have 40-hour-a-week, Monday-to-Friday job, it never pays to come in on the weekend.

I'm on facebook now. I just spent the last hour or so typing bizarre "captchas." My favorite was "fashion $28000"

Come-to-think-about-it, that sounds awfully familiar. Wasn't somebody talking about that one time?

Wow, another embedded youtube video. [14 Aug 2008|12:26am]

I kind-a like this song, though this video is really cheesy. I hate when videos have incidental sound effects. You wanna say "Shut-up, man, I'm trying to listen to this."

I think I like it just because it sounds so much like thin lizzy, which is not a bad thing.

The revered Mr. Yi, who once taught at the Athens Tae Kwon Do Center, decided to drop in and pay a visit. Mr Carter let him teach the day's session despite Mr. Yi's explicit warning: "Okay, but I'm gonna kill everyone!"

Let's say practice was a bit more rigorous than usual.

Cardio+Endurance. That was four hours ago and I'm still trying to catch my breath. It didn't kill me. It only made me stronger?

Laugh-out-Loud cats [29 Jun 2008|01:45pm]
You've seen those lol cat pictures? You know those goofy cat pictures where some guy writes "I has caek!" or something stupid that the cat would say in his foggy, unintelligent mind set. Evidently if a cat could talk it would do so incorrectly.

but check this out:

Laugh-out-Loud Cats

This guy has created a "classic" newspaper-style comic panel for a bunch of the lol cat captions.

Taekwondo [24 May 2008|12:37pm]
[ mood | excited ]

My brother Corey wanted to get back in to his Taekwondo class, and he suggested that I join too so I did. Taekwondo is a korean martial art (the punching and kicking kind). Whatever you are imagining at this point, I can bet the reality, in my case, is far worse. That is to say, I have no natural propensity for the activity. Even still, I find it enjoyable and interesting, and I enjoy having something physical to do, as all my hobbies lately are computer related.

Hey, remember all those toy commercials in the eighties when they always made that enticing claim that "(grown-ups/your parents) just don't get it!" then the would demonstrate by showing a goofy-looking, overweight, bald man in khakis who just can't seem to figure it out? When I attended the mixed-age session (all the children being black or brown belt), I had a sinking a feeling that I might just be that guy. Ha ha! :)
